Because Sam Wang (election.princeton.edu) is SO DAMNED COOL he made this handy document so that you can play along at home. Think of it like the box score sheet you find in the program at baseball games.
Happy Election Day!
I think we should ask all guild members to affirm their beliefs that the guild should remain family friendly. To me that would requiring an affirmative assertion that they do not support racism, sexism, bigotry and ignorance. I believe we have people in guild who would not be able to assert that proposition honestly.
Dun if you ever seen anything other than family friendly conversation that demonstrates tolerance and acceptance, I'd be happy to do the honor of relieving them their position as a guild member. I'm 100% sure Drisus backs that as well. It's upon that which we are founded.
Agree Sapph.... No need for some Crimson Blood Oath or anything... we have stood on good ground for over a decade with many personalities that agree and disagree on many topics. As long as it is handed like adults and respectfully, there is no issue. It is human nature to have different points of view, even ones that some may feel are harmful over all, however as long as no one in guild is asserting that their view be an overwhelming view of the guild on off game topics, then simple PG 13 conversation about our surroundings if we wish it should be fine.
Just want to point out Dun..
Having an ignorant person try to firmly assert that they will not be ignorant is impossible as they are completely unaware of their ignorance. You can't swear to something you aren't even aware that you are actually doing.
Many feel they are not supporting the list you wrote at all while others, just because of a simple sentence that can be taken the wrong way, may feel the person is supporting one of those topics. Social media is alight today of people calling each other names pertaining to your list above while not understanding why the people do one thing or another. That is true ignorance because most name callers are making an assumption on poor data and not knowing a person or group individually.
We in this guild, must be smart to never judge a person by their cover or simple statement(s). It is why whenever some issue pops up we attempt to clarify what was said or typed as the tone of a statement can be twisted to feel one way or another very easily. Often their is misunderstanding on both sides.
We have done a great job for 10 years already. I don't see any issue in the near future as Drisus and the rest of the officer team are smart when it comes to this and we in CBC are accepting of all walks of lives and opinions. It has and will always be our strength as a guild.
